Principal's Message- Mr. Holley

Dear Corona Creek Families,

Hello and welcome back! We are excited to see our students and families return to school tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8th. Please remember that it is a Wednesday so we will follow our Wednesday schedule.

Having the students back on campus will be wonderful, and we look forward to a fantastic start to 2025! Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Safe Routes to School Task Force- Upcoming Meeting

Recently a group of school administrators, parents, representatives from the Petaluma Police Department, City Engineers, and SRTS, completed a walk audit/ site assessment of automobile and pedestrian traffic near Corona Elementary and Kenilworth Junior High School. The reports may be accessed from the SRTS Walk Audit/Site assessment page on the SRTS website, and text of the audit(s) as well as other site data are included in each school site SRTS Travel Plan.

The report and potential solutions will be shared Thursday, January 16th from 4-5:30pm at the Petaluma Community Center. We encourage parents/neighbors to join us at the meeting, and would highly encourage additional feedback from the community at that time.

Youthtruth
YouthTruth Survey- Parent/Family Responses Needed

Annual Parent/Guardian Survey
I am excited to announce an opportunity for parents and guardians to have their voices heard to help Corona Creek, Meadow Elementary, and the entire Waugh District be the best that we can be for our students. You may recall the Youthtruth Survey from last school year. Multiple perspectives are so important and Youthtruth invites input from families, students, and staff. And the data is available for our review very quickly after administration wraps up--another plus!

We ask that one parent or guardian from each family visit ytsurvey.org/waughfamily25 to provide your feedback by January 31st. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete and will ask for your feedback on themes like: school culture, engagement, relationships, communication & feedback, school safety, and resources. One survey per household please unless you have multiple students in our school. You may respond once per student if you’d like.

We will have the opportunity to review your anonymous feedback directly once surveying wraps up and look forward to learning from your important perspective. From there, Waugh's leadership will share our strengths and areas for growth with the community. Thank you so much for taking a few minutes to complete this valuable survey!

Student Survey
We will be surveying students anonymously in 3rd-6th grades during class between January 21st and January 24th. This survey allows our students to share feedback about their overall experiences at school in areas like belonging & peer collaboration, engagement, relationships, and culture. Because student perceptions are linked to academic outcomes, we must hear from them especially. If you'd like to review all of the questions, they are available in the front office. If you would prefer your student not to participate, the opt-out form is also in the office. Opt-out forms are due Wednesday, January 15th. Thank you for supporting this valuable endeavor.

Safe Routes to School
I’d also like to go over a few things to make sure everyone follows the rules and keeps the traffic flowing smoothly. - When dropping off or picking up in front of the school, please stay in your car and let your student(s) walk to their entrance. Red zones are designated areas that must stay open 24/7. They’re not meant for parking, so please respect that.
Hey parents! Just a friendly reminder to cross the parking lot at our crosswalk when you’re walking your kids to school. And please, let’s all stick to the crosswalk and avoid walking in front of cars unless it’s absolutely necessary. Thanks for your cooperation! Just a friendly reminder that the road behind our school is for staff parking and buses. Please don’t drop off or pick up your kids there. (This doesn’t apply to WKC families, though!)
