Bike Safety Training

ALL 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students MUST attend a bike safety program BEFORE they can ride their bikes to school without an accompanying adult. Bike safety class will be offered tomorrow, Friday, Aug 16th from 2:45 pm (after school) until 3:15 at the upper-grade lunch table area. Students do not need to bring their bicycles to participate.

Drop-off/pick-up procedures

Access to the playground begins at 8:00. The school day begins at 8:15. Please drop off students to start their day at the yellow curb or near the office. If you are staying to volunteer, please check in at the office for a visitor badge. The first few days are a good time to help your student transition back. Be clear about where they are meeting you at the end of the day, how they are getting home, who is picking them up, etc.

• Please pull all the way forward before stopping to let your child out of the car.
• Cars may not turn left into the traffic circle from Hartman Lane.
• The traffic circle is for quick drop-offs only- no parking is permitted in the traffic circle. Drivers may not exit the car or turn off the engine in the traffic circle. If parents wish to walk their children to the entrance, please park on one of the neighboring streets and walk your child in.
• If your child walks to school or you park and walk in, please use the crosswalk(s)- do not have children crossing in unmarked areas.
• If parking in surrounding areas, please DO NOT block any driveways.
• Please walk or remind your child to walk around the traffic circle if entering from the street. Please do not walk through the traffic circle as cars come through quickly and struggle to see pedestrians walking through the traffic circle.
• The right side of the traffic circle is for dropping and the left is for passing. Ensure you are pulled up to the curb before letting your child out of the car.

Pick up:

• For grades 4-6, students may safely walk to a meeting location or walk home.
• If your child walks home or you park and walk in, please use the crosswalk(s)- do not cross in unmarked areas.
• Please have patience and drive safely. A bottleneck at pick-up can be frustrating leading to unsafe decision-making behind the wheel. Please be mindful of the safety concerns at hand.
• Please DO NOT block any driveways.
