DISTRICT STUDENT WELLNESS POLICY
The Governing Board recognizes the link between student health and learning and desires to provide a comprehensive program promoting healthy eating and physical activity for district students. Local wellness policies are an important tool for parents and school districts in promoting student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and providing assurance that school meal nutrition guidelines meet the minimum federal school meal standards.
As of School Year 2006-2007, all districts were required to establish a local school wellness policy and begin implementing the new requirements. Districts are encouraged to regularly review and update their local wellness policies.
The Waugh Board Policy was last reviewed, updated, and approved in February 2017.
